The Intergovernmental Committee for Economic and Labour Force Development in Toronto (ICE) invites you to a forum at Metro Hall on Monday, April 18th, 2011 from 8:30 a.m. to noon on “Promoting Successful Self Employment: A Forum for Educators, Trainers, Government and Others Interested in Helping People Start Their Own Businesses.”
Changes in the global economy over the past several years have had enormous impacts on every region of Canada. In Toronto, more and more people are turning to self employment as a way to make a living. How can we help these individuals succeed as they start their own businesses?
Come hear Kamal Hassan, CEO of Skymeter reflect on the characteristics of successful entrepreneurs – what does it really take to succeed and how can we best support those who courageously choose this path?
A panel of successful entrepreneurs will share the lessons they learned through starting their own businesses – what was most helpful to them when they started out.
Finally, several experts will wrap up the day with suggestions on how to approach issues like business viability and financing when supporting individuals who are moving into self employment.
There is no cost to participate in this forum. Light refreshments will be provided. I look forward to seeing you on April 18th at what promises to be an informative and exciting session. An agenda is attached.
